Editorial Committee Regulations


Article 1
The purpose of these regulations is to prescribe matters concerning the operation of the editorial committee (hereafter "Committee"), in accordance with the provisions of Article 26 of the Standing Committee Regulations of the IAPTR.


Article 2
The Committee is composed of one chairman, one deputy chairman and editors.


Article 3
The chairman nominates Committee members and forms the Committee following approval by the executive board.
1. (Eligibility) The chairman of the Committee shall be nominated by the IAPTR president and president-elect, in accordance with Committee member selection criteria.
2. (Selection criteria) Committee members should be those who have been published in an academic journal listed, or awaiting listing, with the National Research Foundation of Korea; who have been published in an international professional academic journal; or who have experience editing or reviewing for an academic journal listed with the National Research Foundation of Korea. As a rule, members must have never received disciplinary actions related to research ethics. Members should be selected with consideration for representaiton among associations, specialty areas and regions in the IAPTR.
3. (Procedure) Candidates are nominated by the head of the relevant IAPTR member specialty association or the Committee chairman. Candidates shall be professors of physical therapy, occupational therapy, social welfare, rehabilitation engineering, pharmaceutical engineering, rehabilitation and health science in the world who meet the eligibility requirements. Final selection is decided by the Committee chairman, and the IAPTR chairman shall formally invite new members following approval from the executive board.
4. (Term) The Committee chairman and members shall serve a term of two years, and they may be reappointed.


Article 4
The Committee shall deliberate and decide on the following items for the publication of the International Academy of Physical Therapy Research (hereafter "Journal") and related materials. The Chairman shall report the Committee's decisions to the entire board through the executive board.
1. Publication of the Journal
(1) Editing
(2) Review and selection of submitted articles
(3) Determination of publication honoraria
2. Publication of academic materials
(1) Matters concerning editing and publication 3. Activities to foster quality development of the Journal
(1) Editorial committee workshop
(2) Joint workshop for editorial commitee and reviewers
(3) Workshops to develop members' capabilities to write scholarly articles
4. Quality management of the Journal
(1) Preparation for National Research Foundation registration evaluation
(2) Preparation for KoreaMed registration evaluation
(3) Maintaining and managing Index Medicus listing
(4) Maintaining and managing SSCI, SCIE listing
5. Matters concerning publishing regulations
6. Other matters referred by the executive board


Article 5
The Committee shall select and manage article reviewers.
1. (Qualification) Reviewers shall be selected according to the following criteria.
- Reviewers must be experienced in reviewing for an academic journal listed, or preparing listing, with the National Research Foundation. They must either hold a doctorate degree, teach as a professor or have equivalent expertise. Reviewers will also be abreast of the latest developments in each specialty research area.
- The editor-in-chief of each specialty association in the IAPTR will automatically become article reviewers.
2. (Composition) In addition to the article reviewers, the Committee will also appoint English-language reviewers and statistical advisors.
3. (Procedure) Candidates are nominated by the head of the relevant IAPTR member specialty association or the Committee chairman. Candidates shall be professors of physical therapy, occupational therapy, social welfare, pharmaceutical engineering etc. in Korea who meet the eligibility requirements for reviewers. Final selection is decided by the Committee, and the IAPTR chairman shall invite new members following approval from the executive board.
4. (Term) Reviewers shall serve a term of two years, and they may be reappointed.
5. (Special reviewers) In the event that a special external reviewer is deemed necessary to properly review an article, the Committee chairman may designate a special reviewer.
6. The Committee chairman shall also serve as the head of the review committee.
7. The Committee will maintain strict confidentiality on all matters concerning editing.
8. Review procedures will follow the guidelines in separate article review regulations.
9. The Committee values research ethical issues and examines rigorously whether proper research methods are used and research procedures are legitimate.
10. The Committee provides only objective and scientific information to its readers by fair screening without discriminating against topics or theme in countries, regions, races, religions, and certain areas.


Addendum
Article 1 (Effective date) These regulations will go into effect from the date of approval from the executive board.
